About This Role

Position Summary

All Star A/C, Plumbing & Electrical is looking for an experienced, dependable, customer-focused HVAC Service Technician to join our growing residential service team. The ideal technician is a strong diagnostician who can communicate clearly with homeowners, complete quality repairs, identify legitimate opportunities to improve the customer's system, and represent All Star professionally in every home.

Primary Responsibilities

Diagnose, repair, maintain, and service residential HVAC systems accurately and efficiently.

Troubleshoot electrical, refrigerant, airflow, controls, thermostat, and mechanical issues.

Perform preventive maintenance and identify potential future equipment problems.

Inspect complete systems rather than focusing only on the immediate complaint.

Clearly explain findings, repair options, recommendations, and costs to customers.

Prepare accurate estimates and present repair and replacement options when appropriate.

Identify legitimate opportunities for equipment replacement, maintenance plans, IAQ, ductwork, water heaters, electrical/plumbing needs, and other services offered by All Star.

Use HCP correctly, including customer notes, photos, job information, estimates, and required closeout documentation.

Take clear before-and-after photos and document work performed and equipment condition.

Maintain clean, organized work areas and protect the customer's home with proper drop cloths, shoe covers, and housekeeping.

Maintain professional appearance, communication, and customer service standards at every call.

Follow all company safety procedures, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes.

Maintain assigned vehicle, tools, equipment, and truck stock; report shortages or maintenance needs promptly.

Participate in on-call/weekend rotation and attend required meetings and training.

Customer Service & Sales Expectations

Treat every customer with professionalism, honesty, empathy, and respect.

Listen carefully to the customer's concerns before beginning the diagnostic process.

Never pressure a customer into purchasing work they do not need.

Do not leave legitimate solutions unpresented simply because the $89 service fee has been collected.

The $89 service fee is the starting point for the service call—not the goal. The goal is to properly diagnose the customer's needs, explain the findings, and present appropriate solutions.

Follow up on estimates and declined work as directed by the company.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of residential HVAC service experience preferred/required.

Strong residential HVAC diagnostic and repair skills.

Ability to diagnose and repair conventional systems, heat pumps, variable-speed equipment, zoning systems, and modern communicating equipment.

Experience with mini-splits and advanced residential HVAC systems is highly valued.

Strong understanding of electrical and refrigeration fundamentals.

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Able to pass company background and driving-record requirements.

Able to work extended hours, weekends, and participate in an on-call rotation during busy season.

Able to work independently while also communicating effectively with dispatch, management, warehouse, installers, and other technicians.

Professional Standards

Be on time and prepared for each call.

Communicate delays or job issues promptly with dispatch/management.

Complete paperwork, photos, notes, registrations, and job closeout requirements accurately.

Protect customer property and leave every work area cleaner than you found it.

Take ownership of mistakes and work with management to correct them.

Be coachable, dependable, accountable, and willing to continue learning.

Represent All Star's reputation in every customer interaction.

Safety Expectations

Follow lockout/tagout and electrical safety procedures when applicable.

Use proper PPE and safe ladder practices.

Use appropriate attic safety procedures, including hydration and awareness of heat-related hazards.

Practice safe lifting and use assistance for heavy equipment or materials when needed.

Inspect vehicles, tools, ladders, and equipment before use.

Never take shortcuts that put yourself, coworkers, customers, or property at risk.

Compensation & Schedule

Lead HVAC Service Technician compensation: $25–$30 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. The position includes weekend/on-call rotation and may require long hours during peak season.

What We Are Looking For
