Building Trades Apprenticeship Programs

The Apprenticeship Readiness Program is designed to prepare individuals for careers in the construction and building trades. Participants will receive hands-on and classroom training that introduces them to the skills, expectations, and opportunities available through registered apprenticeship programs.

The program provides participants with an introduction to multiple skilled trades while helping them develop the foundational skills needed to successfully pursue a construction apprenticeship.

Participants will learn:

• Construction safety and jobsite awareness

• Basic construction math and measurement

• Proper use of hand and power tools

• Industry terminology and basic trade skills

• Communication and teamwork

• Professionalism, punctuality, and jobsite expectations

• Information about construction trades and registered apprenticeship opportunities

Ideal candidates should:

• Be dependable and punctual

• Have a strong work ethic and willingness to learn

• Be interested in a career in the skilled construction trades

• Be able to follow instructions and work as part of a team

• Be willing to participate in both classroom and hands-on training

No previous construction experience is required. Must be willing to work in the Houston and surrounding areas. Able to work on construction sites and be able to perform physical job duties.

Successful completion of the program is intended to help participants become better prepared to apply for registered apprenticeship opportunities in the building trades.
